From January 2020, French composer Bruno Mantovani, 44, will become the musical and artistic director of the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain. Director of the National Conservatory of Music and Dance in Paris until the summer of 2019, he will succeed the founder of the ensemble, Daniel Kawka.
Based in Lyon, the Ensemble Orchestral Contemporain (not to be confused with the Ensemble InterContemprain) is an instrumental ensemble with a nucleus of nineteen musicians, which can expand to orchestral dimensions as necessary. Its current music director Daniel Kawka founded it in 1992.
The EOC concentrates its activities on the music of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
