The European Union Youth Orchestra(EUYO) and Sistema Europe today announced a partnership agreement in order to share practice between the orchestra and the network of Europe’s recently formed Sistema projects.
The partnership will see young musicians from Sistema Europe, aged 5-18, attending open rehearsals and concerts by the EUYO; players and alumni from the EUYO learning about Sistema inspired projects; and groups of players working together in side by side projects.
The first project of the partnership gathered players from the EUYO’s Leverhulme Summer School attending a project involving young players from Sistema inspired projects in Armenia, Austria, Denmark, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland and Turkey in events in Vienna, Grafenegg and the Salzburg Festival, and culminated in a joint workshop with members of the National Children’s Orchestra of Venezuela, 4-7 August 2013.
The EUYO is also hosting the Sistema Europe musicians in an informal ‘encounter’ session at this summer’s EUYO residency in Grafenegg.
The partnership will bring together Europe’s finest young instrumentalists and children from some of Europe’s most disadvantaged areas with the aim of inspiring, sharing and learning.
