Das Weihnachtsrennen auf unserem Schreibtisch haben dieses Jahr die Sankt Florianer Sängerknaben gemacht. Die Nachfolger des Chorknaben Anton Bruckner stehen in der Pole Position der ersten Produktion mit Weihnachtsmusik.
Mit einem bunten Strauss aus bekannten Melodien, volkstümlichen Liedern und gregorianischen Gesängen präsentiert der Chor die gesamte Bandbreite des Repertoires in einem schön homogenen Klang. 23 Jahre liegen zwischen den ersten und den letzten Aufnahmen, 23 Jahre, in denen der Chorklang sich unwesentlich verändert hat, was für die Kontinuität der guten Arbeit im Stift Sankt Florian spricht. Lediglich die stilistische Einförmigkeit mit Hang zum romantischen Großformat trübt die weihnachtliche Vorfreude ein wenig.
The Christmas race on our desk this year has been won by the Sankt Florianer Sängerknaben. The successors of the choir boy Anton Bruckner are in pole position for the first production with Christmas music.
With a colorful bouquet of well-known melodies, folk songs and Gregorian chants, the choir presents the entire range of the repertoire in a beautifully homogeneous sound. 23 years lie between the first and the last recordings, 23 years in which the choir’s sound has changed insignificantly, which speaks for the continuity of the good work at St. Florian Abbey. Only the stylistic monotony with a tendency to romantic grandeur dims the Christmas anticipation a bit.
