Mit einer äußerst feinfühlig gespielten Version der Pathétique eröffnet die türkische Pianistin Gülsin Onay ihre ganze Beethoven-CD. Mit spontanem Rubato und feinsten Nuancen kann sie diese Sonate sehr gefühlvoll herüberbringen.

In der Waldstein-Sonate wählt Onay eine fließende Gestaltung ohne die großen dynamischen Kontraste, wie sie etwa ihr Landsmann Fazil Say hörbar macht.

Ihr Spiel ist elegant und brillant und hat bei aller fließenden Virtuosität auch sehr viel Sensibilität, die wohl, blind gehört, den Rezensenten auf einen weiblichen Interpreten tippen ließe.

Auch die zweisätzige Sonate op. 111 bringt die Pianistin in einer sehr ausgewogenen Interpretation zu Gehör. Dabei ist ihr Spiel sehr rhetorisch und gibt sowohl den markanteren als auch den ruhigeren Passagen eine große Bedeutung. Sie dringt auf ihre Weise zum Kern der Musik vor und zeigt dem Hörer, wie kunstvoll, ernsthaft und tiefgründig Beethoven diese so spezielle Sonate konzipiert hat.

Mit natürlichem und intimistischen Charme, aber ohne übertriebene Süße spielt Gülsin Onay dann auch noch das Andante favori.

In the Waldstein Sonata, Onay’s playing is fluid, without the great dynamic contrasts used, for example, by her compatriot Fazil Say.
Her playing is elegant and brilliant, and despite all her virtuosity, it is also very sensitive. If heard blindly, this would have led the reviewer to believe that the music is played by a female interpreter.
The pianist also performs the two-movement Sonata op. 111 in a finely shaped interpretation. Her playing is very rhetorical and gives great importance to both the more striking and the quieter passages. In her own way, she gets to the heart of the music and shows the listener how artistically, seriously and profoundly Beethoven conceived this very special sonata.
With natural and intimistic charm, but without exaggerated sweetness, Gülsin Onay also plays the Andante favori.
