Die ersten CDs dieser Fibich-Reihe bei Naxos hatten uns maßlos enttäuscht. Vor allem in den anspruchsvolleren Symphonien haperte es mit der musikalischen Gestaltung. Diese vierte CD mit kürzeren Orchesterwerken – das längste dauert 17 Minuten – ist die beste dieser Reihe. Die Tontechniker haben die Akustik besser im Griff und der Dirigent das Orchester ebenfalls. Stilec dirigiert zupackend und bringt auch recht farbige Interpretationen zustande. Das Orchester bleibt wohl der Musik einiges an Geschmeidigkeit schuldig, doch im Grossen und Ganzen kann man sich ein gutes Bild von diesen Ouvertüren und den Auszügen aus Fibichs Bühnenmusikern machen.
This fourth volume of Fibich’s orchestral works with shorter compositions is so far the most satisfying of the edition. Though we would have appreciated a more flexible and smooth playing, there is a lot of color and dramatic energy in the music.
