After two years of preparation the First Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competition begins tomorrow, 16 August, at the Shanghai Symphony Hall. 24 candidates, mainly from Asia, face a jury comprising David Stern, Zakhar Bron, Martin Engstroem, Daniel Heifetz, Boris Kuschnir, Maxim Vengerov, among others. The competition will end on 2 September.
