Invited by French broadcaster France Musique, the Minister of National Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, and the Minister of Culture, Francoise Nyssen, announced their ‘choir plan’ that will offer two hours of choir singing in each college in France from the fall 2019.
In France, the college is the school which comes after the elementary school and before the high-school (lycée). Pupils taught at a college are between 11 and 15 years old.
According to the plan of both ministers, there will be at least one choir per school in September 2019. The budget for implementing this plan in the 7100 colleges in France is estimated at € 20 million.
At the same time, Blanquer announced that mobile phones will be banned at elementary school and colleges in the autumn of 2018.
