Diese CD beginnt mit der Petite Symphonie, einem Spätwerk für neun Bläser von Charles Gounod, die dieser 1885 für den Flötisten und Impresario Paul Taffanel komponierte. Die Solistes de l’Orchestre de Paris spielen das Werk in schöner Ausgewogenheit, lebhaft und ausdrucksvoll. Das gilt auch für die Chansons et Danses von Vincent d’Indy.
Das Bläserquintett in g-Moll von Paul Taffanel ist ein wundervolles Werk, das sich hier klanglich in einer exzellenten Interpretation präsentiert. Die fünf Solisten spielen nicht nur mit Eleganz und Raffinesse, sondern mit inspirierter Expressivität. Piernés Pastorale in der Originalfassung beschließt das Programm, zu dem es auf einer zweiten CD ein Pendant gibt, und zwar das umgedreht als ‘Gounod d’Indy’ bezeichnete Programm mit teilweise denselben, ebenfalls herausragend gespielten Werken, nämlich der Petite Symphonie von Charles Gounod und den Chansons et Danses von d’Indy mit den Solistes de l’Orchestre de Paris von 1975, damals mit dem bekannten Oboisten Maurice Bourgue. This CD begins with the Petite Symphonie, a late work for nine winds by Charles Gounod, which he composed in 1885 for the flutist and impresario Paul Taffanel. The Solistes de l’Orchestre de Paris play the work with beautiful balance, lively and expressive. The same is true of Vincent d’Indy’s Chansons et Danses.
The Wind Quintet in G minor by Paul Taffanel is a wonderful work, presented here in an excellent interpretation. The five soloists play not only with elegance and refinement, but with inspired expressivity. Pierné’s Pastorale in the original version concludes the program, to which there is a companion CD inversely called ‘Gounod d’Indy’ with partly the same works, also outstandingly played, namely Charles Gounod’s Petite Symphonie and d’Indy’s Chansons et Danses with the Solistes de l’Orchestre de Paris from 1975, then with the well-known oboist Maurice Bourgue.
