Raphaël Pichon liefert eine schlichte und subtile Interpretation der h-Moll-Messe, die fast das Gegenteil der Interpretationen eines Harnoncourt oder Gardiner darstellt. Sie ist raffiniert, leicht und luftig, tänzerisch und fließend, eigentlich sehr französisch.
Diese Leichtigkeit erweist sich als wertvoll, um die Kontraste und Farben der Musik zu genießen.
Der Chorgesang ist von großer Schönheit, und auch das Orchester ist hervorragend. Die Solisten fügen sich wunderbar in das Ensemble ein, das durch seine musikalischen Qualitäten beeindruckt. Aber zweifellos wird das Ergebnis nicht jedermanns Geschmack treffen. Man kann der Interpretation vorwerfen, nicht genügend Dramatik zu zeigen. Andere Dirigenten haben spannungsvollere Musik abgeliefert.
Raphaël Pichon gives a simple and subtle interpretation of the B Minor Mass, almost the opposite of the interpretations of Harnoncourt or Gardiner. It is refined, light and airy, dancing and flowing, very French indeed.
This lightness proves valuable in enjoying the contrasts and colors of the music.
The choral singing is of great beauty, and the orchestra is also excellent. The soloists blend wonderfully into the ensemble, which impresses with its musical qualities. However, the result will undoubtedly not be to everyone’s taste. The interpretation can be criticized for not showing enough drama. Other conductors have delivered more exciting music.
