The Washington National Opera has announced that, after eight years, the contract of its music director, Philippe Auguin, will not be renewed beyond the 2017-2018 season. French conductor Philippe Auguin, 56, a former assistant of Karajan and Solti, was Music Director of the Orchestre Philharmonie de Nice from 2010 until 2016.
