French music conservatoires are no longer getting any financial aid from the State. They have to be subsidized by the cities or the regions. This means that the number of pupils will mostly have to decrease and that the inscription fees will be raised. Despite such measures, experts believe that a number of conservatoires will simply have to close. Only conservatoires being part of a high school system are eligible to receive money from the Government. By this measure, the French Ministry of Culture will save 31 million Euros.
