One of the French regional orchestras, Orchestre de Picardie in Amiens, is in an extremely bad financial shape, according to a report of the Regional Chamber of Accounts. The newspaper Courrier Picard reported that the Region’s President Xavier Bertrand questions the management which is said to be lacking rigor.
Since the orchestra faces closure in 2019, Bertrand is very clear about the possible rescue of the orchestra. The Region already pays 64% of the public funding and can hardly invest more. He proposes to organize a last-chance meeting very soon. Affaire à suivre.
