The second edition of the travelling festival Un été en France (Summer in France), will take place from July 15 to August 4, 2021. Created in 2020 to address the cultural desert caused by the health crisis, the initiative was imagined by cellist Gautier Capuçon to provide access to classical music for as many people as possible.
This year 12 cities in France will host 27 young artists, musicians and dancers, and 6 orchestras of schoolchildren from Orchestre à l’École. These concerts will be entirely free for the public. The 12 cities hosting the concerts will be Chateaugiron, Le Conquet, Calais, Estaires, Avioth, Creutzwald, Saint-Priest La Roche, Fareins, La Ciotat, Arles, Caussade and Mazères.
Gautier Capuçon says: « This touring festival has been for me, in 2020, an extraordinary human and musical adventure to meet an audience that does not always have access to music. For this edition, we discovered during the auditions very talented young artists eager to finally find the stage and the audience! »
