The Mariinsky Theatre launches today its largest ever Asia tour, with 20 performances in 18 days, all conducted by Valery Gergiev. With stops in Japan, China and Korea, the tour comprises symphonic concerts and opera performances with pieces like The Queen of Spades, Eugen Onegin, Roméo et Juliette, War and Peace as well as Rheingold.
November will see Gergiev for twenty more concerts on the podium. He will conduct the London Symphony and the Munich Philharmonic and leave Munich after a concert on the 13th to join the Mariinsky Orchestra the following day, 14 November, for a European tour until the end of the month, with no rehearsal foreseen between Munich and the beginning of the tour in Switzerland. People be prepared!
