Der von Ludwig van Beethoven ausgebildete Ferdinand Ries (1784-1838) war ein Meister der Fantasie. Das zeigt sich beeindruckend auf diesem Album. Die Stücke, mit denen der Komponist als Pianist sein Publikum faszinieren wollte, sind teils sehr virtuos und brillant, aber sie sind auch sehr fantasievoll komponiert.
Dieser Einfallsreichtum und die damit verbundene Rhetorik kommen in den Interpretationen des italienischen Pianisten Gianluca Faragli bestens zum Ausdruck. Er verzichtet auf jegliche Kraftmeierei, spielt mit vielen Nuancen in Farben und Dynamik, mit ganz subtilem Rubato sowie großer artikulatorischer Klarheit, und vor allem legt er Wert auf gefühlvolles Aussingen, wo immer das möglich und passend ist.
Ferdinand Ries (1784-1838), who was trained by Ludwig van Beethoven, was a master of the fantasy. This is impressively demonstrated on this album. Some of the pieces with which the composer wanted to fascinate his audience as a pianist are very virtuosic and brilliant, but they are also very imaginatively composed. This ingenuity and the associated rhetoric are perfectly expressed in the interpretations by Italian pianist Gianluca Faragli. He refrains from any kind of forcefulness, plays with many nuances in colors and dynamics, with very subtle rubato and great articulatory clarity, and above all he attaches great importance to sensitive singing wherever possible and appropriate.
