The Orquesta Filarmonica de Gran Canaria, in collaboration with the Martin Chirino Foundation for the Arts and Thought, have announced the first edition of the Martin Chirino International Conducting Competition. The contest will be held between the 7th and 11th of October 2019 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The competition is open to conductors of all nationalities with no age restriction.
Karel Mark Chichon, Chief Conductor & Artistic director of the Orquesta Filarmonica de Gran Canaria, will chair the jury, which will include conductors Gérard Korsten, Enrique García Asensio and Víctor Pablo Perez, Kees Vlaardingerbroek (artistic director of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic), Jo Fry (Askonas Holt Agency) and Erich Seitter.
