An und für sich ist das Programm dieser Produktion eine in den Katalogen recht gängige Zusammenstellung. Freilich erklingen Ma Mère l’Oye und der Boléro in von John Wilson korrigierten Versionen, die hiermit erstmals auf einem Tonträger vorgelegt werden. Und den Unterschied hört man schon, nicht nur in Ma Mère l’Oye, sondern vor allem auch im Boléro. Doch wenn ich diese CD empfehle, dann vor allem wegen der Interpretationen der Sinfonia of London, die unter John Wilsons umsichtiger und inspirierender Leitung quasi einen akustischen 3-D-Scan der Musik vorlegt.
Im Boléro gefällt die innere Spannung, die für eine gute eine Intensivierung der Steigerung sorgt. Die Pavane pour une infante défunte hat man expressiver gehört als in dieser Einspielung, aber Ma Mère l’Oye, die Valses Nobles et sentimentales und La Valse begeistern durch den farbigen, prägnant konturierten und immer spannungsvollen Sound des Orchesters.
The program of this production is a fairly common set in the catalogs. But Ma Mère l’Oye and the Boléro are performed in new versions corrected by John Wilson. And one can definitely hear the difference, not only in Ma Mère l’Oye, but especially in the Boléro. But if I recommend this CD, it is primarily for the interpretations of the Sinfonia of London, which under John Wilson’s judicious and inspiring direction presents a quasi-acoustic 3-D scan of the music.
In the Boléro, the inner tension is pleasing, providing a good one intensifying the climax. The Pavane pour une infante défunte has been heard more expressively than in this recording, but Ma Mère l’Oye, the Valses Nobles et sentimentales and La Valse thrill with the orchestra’s colorful, concisely contoured and always tense sound.
