Brazilian violinist Guido Felipe Sant’Anna, 17, won First Prize at the 2022 Fritz Kreisler International Violin Competition in Vienna. 2nd Prize ex-aequo: Michael Shaham, 19, Israel. and Rino Yoshimoto, 19, Japan.
Headed by Jean Jacques Kantorow, the Jury included violinists Igor Gruppman, Fanny Clamagirand, Mario Hossen, Sergey Khachatryan, Ernst Kovacic, Sergej Krylov, Benjamin Schmid, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Ingolf Turban, and Tianwa Yang.
Guido Sant’Anna began his violin studies at the age of five. He gave his orchestral solo debut aged seven, with the conductor Júlio Medaglia, and has since given solo recitals as well as orchestral and chamber music performances. He has been a participant of the Perlman Music Program since 2018. Since winning a prize at the Menuhin Competition Geneva 2018, Guido has enjoyed a number of opportunities. He studies with Elisa Fukuda and plays on an 1833 Iorio violin, kindly loaned by the Caris Foundation.
