The Hawaii Symphony Orchestra, successor to the Honolulu Symphony which ceased activities in 2009, is fighting with financial problems. To cut down on the costs, it will present a shorter season for 2013/14, with a total of 19 weeks instead of 22. Nevertheless, the artistic level is not endangered. The orchestra will present soloists like Sarah Chang, Cecile Licad or Sir James Galway, and conductors like Andrew Litton, Tito Muñoz, Michael Stern and JoAnn Falletta, who is the orchestra’s Artistic Adviser.
