American violinist Hilary Hahn has announced her withdrawal from all concerts through the end of November. Her medical team has advised her to abstain from strenuous performance and travel as she continues to recover from a double pinched nerve.

Concerts affected include her planned United States tour with the Berliner Philharmoniker with concerts at The Kennedy Center, at Carnegie Hall, and with UMS in Ann Arbor, Michigan; and her two-night engagement with the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa, ON.

Of the cancelations, Hilary Hahn says “I am extremely disappointed not to be touring with the Berlin Philharmonic or to be returning to Ottawa this month. Unfortunately, healing follows its own timeline, and I have to respect that if I want to be able to play far into the future. I hope to be on the road again very soon, and I deeply appreciate all the support I’ve received during this process. To my colleagues and concertgoers, I am so sorry that I can’t be there with you!”

In her stead, Benjamin Beilman (Kennedy Center; Ann Arbor) and Vilde Frang (Carnegie Hall) will perform Korngold’s Violin Concerto with the Berlin Philharmonic, while pianist Jaeden Izik-Dzurko will perform Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 2 with the National Arts Centre Orchestra.
