From 2026, Holly Hyun Choe will be chief conductor of the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the organization said.She will be the successor of Czech conductor Petr Popelka who stepped down in 2023.
Holly Hyun Choe was born in South Korea and grew up in Los Angeles. After studying in the USA and Switzerland (completed in 2023), the young conductor is increasingly in demand around the world.
In Germany, where Holly Hyun Choe now lives, she has spent the last few years exploring the boundless potential of music. She is the artistic director of the chamber orchestra ensemble reflektor, which describes itself as a « messenger for a musical culture without borders ».
