Auf dem neuen Album Terra Mater von Christina Pluhar und der schwedischen Mezzosopranistin Malena Ernman treiben Kanarienvögel, der Kuckuck, Nachtigallen, Hühner, Frösche, Schwäne und Mäuse ihr Unwesen, aber auch hoher Wellengang, Sturm und Gewitter stellen Bezüge zum Titel her, und das in Werken von u.a. Monteverdi, Händel, Biber sowie in einer Reihe von traditionellen Liedern.
Pluhar und die Solistin bereiten das als großen Spaß zu, der den oft skurrilen Humor der Musik effektvoll zum Ausdruck bringt.
Die Musiker von L’Arpeggiata bemühen sich mit viel Spielfreude, die köstlichsten, ulkigsten und schrägsten Klänge dazu zu produzieren. Melancholie kommt durchaus auch manchmal zum Vorschein, und wenn der Jazzsong Nature Boy des amerikanischen Jazzkomponisten Eden Ahbez das Programm mit einer weiteren Farbe beendet, hat man den Eindruck, eine weite und hoch interessante Reise vom Barock bis in unsere Zeit unternommen zu haben.
Mezzosopranistin Malena Ernman spart ebenfalls nicht mit Humor und tieferen Gefühlen, so dass dieses ideenreich zusammengestellte Album fürs Ohr zu einer großen Freude wird.
On the new album Terra Mater by Christina Pluhar and Swedish mezzo-soprano Malena Ernman, canaries, cuckoos, nightingales, chickens, frogs, swans and mice are up to frolicsomeness, but high waves, storms and thunderstorms also make reference to the title in works by Monteverdi, Handel, Biber and others, as well as in a number of traditional songs.
Pluhar and the soloist prepare this with great relish, effectively expressing the music’s often bizarre humor.
The musicians of L’Arpeggiata take great pleasure in producing the most delicious, comical and whimsical sounds. Melancholy is also present at times, and when the jazz song Nature Boy by the American jazz composer Eden Ahbez ends the program with a different color, one has the impression of having made a long and much interesting journey from the Baroque to our time.
Mezzo-soprano Malena Ernman doesn’t skimp on humor and deeper emotions either, making this imaginative album a great pleasure to the ear.
