Following an invitation by the Philharmonie Luxembourg, the Jury of the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA) will hold its annual General Assembly, January 18-20, in Luxembourg.
The Philharmonie Luxembourg was inaugurated in 2005. It now presents more than 400 performances each year and is one of the main concert halls in Europe.
The ICMA Jury is composed of 17 members from the most important classical music media in Europe, Russia and Turkey.
Apart from their meetings, the ICMA Jury members will attend a concert by the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg conducted by Music Director Gustavo Gimeno as well as a chamber music concert specially organized by Music:LX, Luxembourg’s music export office, and the Ministry of Culture, featuring Artemandoline, Duo Rosa, cellist Cyprien Keiser with Markus Krebel at the piano, and pianist Jean Muller.
ICMA President, himself a Luxembourgian citizen, says: « It’s a great honour to welcome my colleagues in my native country and I am particularly glad that, today, a country with a relatively short musical history, can show what an amazing musical place it has become, with the most important concert hall within a radius of 200 kilometres, an internationally renowned orchestra and a lot of emerging young artists. »
