According to human rights activists, the imprisoned Russian pianist and war opponent Pavel Kuzhnir has died in a prison in Birobidzhan in Russia. The 39-year-old died as a result of a hunger strike, reported the civil rights portal OVD-Info.
The artist worked at the Philharmonic Orchestra in Birobidzhan and was reportedly arrested at the end of May on charges of extremism. Kushnir had made no secret of his stance against the Russian attack on neighboring Ukraine, had written a book against the war and ran a small YouTube channel with anti-fascist manifestos.
