‘Intermezzi del Verismo’ ist ein Programm, wie man es heute kaum noch zu hören bekommt. Es vereint bekannte mit weniger bekannten Werken. Der italienische Dirigent Lodovico Zocche lässt die Musik nicht einfach nur schön fließen, er dramatisiert sie, was etwa im Intermezzo aus Puccinis ‘Manon Lescaut’ oder Mascagnis ‘L’Amico Fritz’ und ‘Le Maschere’ zu ganz schönen Ergebnissen führt. Freilich gibt es auch Intermezzi, wo man sich etwas mehr Ruhe und weniger Akzentuierungen gewünscht hätte.
Letztlich aber hätte man Zocche ein besseres Orchester gewünscht als jenes aus Graz, das nicht besonders gut klingt. Es fehlt der Formation deutlich an Geschmeidigkeit und Klangkultur.
Lodovico Zocche cares for much of a dramatic pacing of the music, yet his orchestra lacks the necessary refinement. Nonetheless, the program is interesting since it combines popular and less known pieces.
