According to guidelines issued by Israel’s government, the Tel Aviv-based Israel Philharmonic Orchestra has announced the postponement of its upcoming season-opening concerts. The Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, has cancelled all current performances. The Israel Camerata Jerusalem, has postponed upcoming concerts.
International concert tours have also been affected by the eruption of conflict. The Cleveland Orchestra, which was to make its debut in Israel this month has called off dates in Haifa, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. A statement says: “The safety of our musicians and staff is a top priority, and this decision was based on State Department guidelines in consultation with security advisors. The Orchestra will still travel to Austria to perform concerts in Vienna on October 18 and Linz on October 20. Our thoughts are with friends and family in Israel right now, and we hope for their continued safety.”
