Der belgische Pianist Florian Noack entführt uns nach Paris und Berlin in den sogenannten Années folles, der Zeit zwischen den beiden Weltkriegen, in Stücken mit Jazz- und Blues-Einflüssen in einer Mischung von quirlig-virtuoser und melancholischer Musik. Etliche Kompositionen präsentiert er in eigenen Bearbeitungen für Klavier.
In seinem gelösten Spiel zeigt Noack mehr Charme als draufgängerisches oder lustvolles Musizieren. Das Ganze ist etwas brav, und mir fehlt der
Show-Charakter, jenes Herzangeln, das in der Klassik mit Recht nicht angebracht, hier aber im Überschwang die Musik erst so richtig beleben würde. Andere Musiker haben diese Stücke ganz anders, viel spontaner, ursprünglicher, packender, spannungs- und effektvoller gespielt. Wer aber den Charme vorzieht und eine gemütliche Stunde Musik sucht, wird hier bestens bedient.
The Belgian pianist Florian Noack takes us to Paris and Berlin in the so-called Années folles, the period between the two world wars, in pieces with jazz and blues influences in a mixture of lively, virtuoso and melancholy music. He presents a number of compositions in his own arrangements for piano.
In his relaxed playing, Noack shows more charm than reckless or joyful music-making. The whole thing is a bit staid, and I miss the show character, that heart angling which is rightly inappropriate in classical music, but which would really enliven the music here in its exuberance. Other musicians have played these pieces quite differently, much more spontaneously, originally, grippingly, excitingly and effectively. But anyone who prefers charm and is looking for a leisurely hour of music will be well served here.
