The Trois-Rivières Symphony Orchestra has announced the appointment of Canadian conductor Jean-Claude Picard, 37, as Artistic Director and Chief Conductor. Assistant conductor and then Associate conductor of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Picard has pursued an impressive career in Europe and Canada.
A flutist, Jean-Claude Picard has turned to orchestra conducting since 2007. A graduate in the direction of the Geneva Conservatoire, he also perfected with Kurt Masur, Neeme Järvi and David Zinman.
His four-year contract will begin with the 2019-2020 season. He is succeeding Jacques Lacombe (2006-2018).
