Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (Alberta, Canada) announced its ninth Music Director, the Canadian conductor Jean-Marie Zeitouni.
Over the years, Jean-Marie Zeitouni has been Artistic Director of the Orchestre de chambre I Musici de Montréal, Music Director of the Colorado Music Festival, the Columbus Symphony, the opera program at the Banff Center, Artistic Partner of the Edmonton Symphony, Assistant Conductor and Chorus Director at the Opéra de Montréal as well as Music Director of their Atelier lyrique, Chorus Director at the Orchestre symphonique de Québec and the Opéra de Québec, and Music Director of the Université Laval orchestra and opera workshop. For a dozen years, he worked closely with Les Violons du Roy, where he was alternately conductor-in-residence, associate conductor and principal guest conductor. Jean-Marie Zeitouni is a graduate of the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal in conducting, percussion and music writing. Since 2022, he has been conducting the orchestra and teaching conducting at the same institution.
