American conductor John Axelrod, 50, Music Director of the Seville Symphony, has told the Diario de Sevilla that it is his aim to become also the General Manager of the orchestra, a vacant position since the departure of Remedios Navarro last year. In the interview, Axelrod said: « I would like and I am prepared to be the new managing director of the ROSS, but it should be the institutions that ask me. (…) I believe that I know the needs of the ROSS better than anyone at this moment, and there are urgent topics that must be addressed. » He also insisted on getting the orchestra back into financially stable waters.
