English conductor Jonathan Nott, 58, has agreed to renew the commitment that the Foundation Board of the OSR has proposed to him in the position of Music and Artistic Director of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande as of September 1, 2021. The new contract is permanent, an OSR spokesperson told Pizzicato, and reflecting the mutual trust.
The special relationship between the musicians of the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and their Maestro began in 2014 when Jonathan Nott conducted Gustav Mahler’s Seventh Symphony as guest conductor. This very promising first meeting led to his appointment as Music and Artistic Director of the OSR, starting in January 2017.
Since 2014 Jonathan Nott has been Principal Conductor of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and Music Director of the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.
