The 8th Jorma Panula Conducting Competition is held in Vaasa, Finland, from 16 to 19 November 2021. The application for contestants from all over Europe begins today, 1 December 2020 and continues until the end of March 2021. The competition is held every three years.
From the very beginning, Academician Jorma Panula has been the competition’s Artistic Director and Chairman. In addition, the 2021 competition Jury consists of conductor Neeme Järvi (Estonia), composer Kaija Saariaho (Finland), conductor Nicolas Pasquet (Uruguay) and conductor Johannes Schlaefli (Switzerland), as well as one musician from each of the competition orchestras, Vaasa City Orchestra and Jyväskylä Sinfonia.
