The Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra in Norway has announced that 47-year-old Austrian Julian Rachlin will be the orchestra’s new Chief Conductor beginning with the 23/24 season. He succeeds Nathalie Stutzmann, who had held the position since 2018.
Rachlin, who has been Principal Guest Conductor of the orchestra since the 18/19 season, has spent his more than thirty-year career as a conductor, soloist, chamber musician, teacher, and artistic director. He has been Principal Guest Conductor of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra and the Royal Northern Sinfonia, and is Artistic Director of the Herbstgold Festival in Eisenstadt.
