Die heute zwanzigjährige Zala Kravos und ihr zwei Jahre jüngerer Bruder Val bilden seit ihrer Kindheit ein Klavierduo. Ihre erste CD beginnt mit einer lebendigen und ausgewogenen Interpretation der Sonate KV 381 von Wolfgang A. Mozart. Sehr schön verträumt und poetisch folgt dann Schuberts Fantasie D. 940. In den Jeux d’enfants von Bizet zeigen sich die beiden Pianisten wohl fantasievoll, aber die Suite büßt doch ihren Charakter, den eines ‘enfantillage’, also des Kindlichen ein, wie ihn die Labèques oder auch das Duo Bard gezeigt haben. Aber das ist wohl der Preis, den das Kravas Duo zahlen muss, weil es in seiner Jugend Reife zeigen will, die bei Mozart und Schubert beeindruckt, aber bei Bizet fehl am Platz ist.
Der abschließend gespielt Poème der 1953 geborenen Komponistin Françoise Choveaux erlaubt es den beiden Interpreten ihre Virtuosität und ihren Sinn für einen gewissen Pathos ungezügelt zum Ausdruck zu bringen.
Zala Kravos, now twenty years old, and her brother Val, two years younger, have formed a piano duo since childhood. Their first CD begins with a lively and balanced interpretation of the Sonata KV 381 by Wolfgang A. Mozart. Schubert’s Fantasy D. 940 follows in a very dreamy and poetic manner. In the Jeux d’enfants by Bizet, the two pianists show themselves to be very imaginative, but the suite loses its character (that of an ‘enfantillage’, i.e. of the childlike, as shown by the Labèques or also the Duo Bard. But this is probably the price the Kravas Duo has to pay for wanting to show maturity in their youth, which is impressive in Mozart and Schubert but out of place in Bizet.
The concluding Poème by composer Françoise Choveaux, born in 1953, allows the two performers to express their virtuosity and sense of a certain pathos unbridled.
