Karina Canellakis, a 36-year-old native New Yorker, Winner of the 2016 Sir Georg Solti Conducting Award, has been named the next chief conductor of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra. She is to succeed Markus Stenz who is in this position since 2012, yet will not renew his contract in 2019. Canellakis will start her 4-year-contract in September 2019.
