Karl-Heinz Steffens, music director of the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, has informed his orchestra and staff that he has « not managed to achieve a fruitful dialogue with Annilese Miskimmon about the artistic planning. Furthermore, I experience lack of respect for the music director’s position and influence on the opera’s artistic development. » Miskimmon will be the Opera’s new General Manager from the season 2017/18.
Steffens says: « Now, more than a year after we first got in touch, I concluded that further cooperation between us will not be possible and I have decided not to extend my contract when it expires in August 2018. »
