Die Konzerte von Francis Poulenc erfreuen sich in letzter Zeit großer Beliebtheit auf CD. Das Orgelkonzert wurde mehrfach aufgenommen und ist auf dieser CD mit dem Organisten Karol Mossakowski zu hören, der dieses Jahr mit einem Preis der International Classical Music Awards ICMA ausgezeichnet wurde.

Poulencs Konzerte können leicht etwas theatralisch wirken, auch wenn die Gefühle, die sie ausdrücken, von der Ehrlichkeit und Ernsthaftigkeit des Komponisten zeugen. Im Konzert für Orgel, Pauken und Streicher vermeiden Giancarlo Guerrero und Karol Mossakowski diese Theatralik, indem sie die Kontraste betonen und die Rhetorik spannungsvoll und zum Teil auch sehr virtuos werden lassen.

Ihre Interpretation ist extrem gut proportioniert und präsentiert einen packenden Dialog zwischen Orgel und Orchester.

In Joseph Jongens Symphonie Concertante zeigen sich die Interpreten stilsicher und bemüht, die vielen Farben der Komposition für eine zwingende Rhetorik zu nutzen. Obwohl Jongen die Einflüsse, die er erfahren hat, nicht verheimlicht, gelingt es ihm, sie in eine persönliche Handschrift zu integrieren, deren Hauptverdienst Klarheit und ein offensichtlicher Sinn für Schönheit und Ausdruckskraft ist.

Die Symphonie Concertante ist « kein Orgelkonzert, sondern ein Orchesterwerk, in dem die Orgel, dieses andere Orchester, die ihm gebührende Vorrangstellung einnimmt », sagte der Komponist einmal. Dementsprechend ist die Orgel hier gut in den opulenten Orchesterklang eingebunden.

Der erste Satz hat oft einen pastoralen Charakter, ebenso wie der dritte Satz, der molto lento ist. Das Divertimento (2. Satz) ist lebhaft und humorvoll, während das Finale, eine Toccata, der Orgel und dem Orchester die Möglichkeit gibt, ihre eigene Stärke zu demonstrieren. Die Interpreten liefern eine spannende Interpretation.

Dies ist die erste CD, für die die neue Orgel des NFM-Saals in Wroclaw in Orchesterwerken benutzt wurde. Im Booklet sind ausführliche Informationen zu dem neuen Instrument enthalten.

Francis Poulenc’s concertos have recently enjoyed great popularity on CD. The organ concerto has been recorded several times and can be heard on this CD with organist Karol Mossakowski, who won an International Classical Music Awards prize this year.

Poulenc’s concertos can easily seem a bit theatrical, even though the emotions they express are a testament to the composer’s honesty and seriousness. In the Concerto for Organ, Timpani and Strings, Giancarlo Guerrero and Karol Mossakowski avoid this theatricality by emphasizing contrasts and allowing the rhetoric to become tense and, at times, very virtuosic.

Their interpretation is extremely well proportioned and presents a gripping dialogue between organ and orchestra.

In Joseph Jongen’s Symphonie Concertante, the performers show a sense of style and labored to use the many colors of the composition to create a compelling rhetoric. Although Jongen does not conceal the influences he experienced, he succeeds in integrating them into a personal signature whose chief merit is clarity and an obvious sense of beauty and expressiveness.

The Symphonie Concertante is « not an organ concerto, but an orchestral work in which the organ, that other orchestra, takes the primacy it deserves, » the composer once said. Accordingly, the organ here is well integrated into the opulent orchestral sound.

The first movement often has a pastoral character, as does the third movement, which is molto lento. The Divertimento (2nd movement) is lively and humorous, while the finale, a toccata, gives the organ and orchestra a chance to demonstrate their own strength. The performers deliver an exciting interpretation.

This is the first CD for which the new organ of the NFM Hall in Wroclaw was used in orchestral works. The booklet contains detailed information about the new instrument.
