Cyprien Katsaris, jetzt 72 Jahre alt, hat von seiner großartigen Gestaltungskunst nichts verloren, und er beweist auf diesem Album sein großes Talent und seine Autorität in der Interpretation von polnischer romantischer Musik, die ihm besonders gut liegt.
Es ist eine Sammlung von Stücken, die sich durch ihre bezaubernde Melodik und ihren Farbenreichtum auszeichnen und in denen er sich auf überzeugende Art zum Anwalt einer Musik macht, die durchaus verdient, gehört zu werden. Er spielt, wenn nötig tänzerisch schwungvoll, wenn gegeben lyrisch-zart oder auch verspielt, bleibt aber immer vornehm-poetisch und leitet die Musik sicher am Abgrund platter Sentimentalität vorbei, wohin sie durchaus abrutschen könnte. So bereitet das Programm fast 80 Minuten lang pure Freude.
Cyprien Katsaris, now 72 years old, has lost none of his great creative artistry, and on this album, he demonstrates his great talent and authority in the interpretation of Polish Romantic music, a genre that suits him particularly well.
It is a collection of pieces characterized by their enchanting melodies and richness of color, in which he convincingly makes himself an advocate of music that deserves to be heard. His playing is lyrical and lively when necessary, tender and playful when appropriate, but always elegantly poetic, keeping the music safely away from the abyss of platitudinous sentimentality into which it could easily slip. The program is nearly 80 minutes of pure joy.
