Kazuki Yamada will become the new Principal Conductor and Artistic Director of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO), one of the four ensembles of the Rundfunk Orchester und Chöre gGmbH Berlin (ROC), as of the 2026/2027 season.

He will assume artistic direction of the orchestra for an initial period of three years. He succeeds Robin Ticciati, who led the DSO from 2017 to 2024. He becomes the eighth principal conductor in the history of the orchestra, founded in 1946 as the RIAS-Symphonie-Orchester, and follows in the footsteps of such prestigious figures as Ferenc Fricsay, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Chailly, Vladimir Ashkenazy and Kent Nagano.

Kazuki Yamada is Music Director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) and Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo (OPMC).
