Japanese conductor Kazushi Ono, 61, will be the new music director of the Brussels Philharmonic, the orchestra announced today. He will succeed Stéphane Denève, who has held the position since 2014.
Of Japanese origin, Kazushi Ono has been a conductor for many orchestras around the world, including the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, where he began his career. He has served as Music Director of La Monnaie in Brussels. Currently he is Music Director of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and the New National Theatre Tokyo.
