73-year-old American conductor Kent Nagano will begin his tenure as Principal Artistic Partner of Filarmonica Toscanini in Parma from the 2025/26 season for an initial three-year agreement.
Kent Nagano said of the new partnership “Although the orchestra and I have only met once, it was a strong partnership, I would say, from the very first minute. They bring a spirit and enthusiasm, a freshness and remarkable quality to how they think and how they make music. Somehow, the value system between us seemed to align right from the beginning. That’s why I’m very, very much looking forward to this collaboration starting next season”.
Nganao is Generalmusikdirektor in Hamburg, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of Orquesta y Coro Nacionales de España (from September 2026), Honorary Conductor of the Philharmonisches Staatsorchester Hamburg, Conductor Laureate of the Deutsche Symphonie Orchester Berlin and Honorary Conductor of Concerto Köln.
