An guten Aufnahmen der Symphonien Nr. 4 und 5 von Carl Nielsen mangelt es nicht. Diese Neueinspielung ist nicht zu denen zu zählen, die die beiden Werke so hinterfragen, wie das Jukka-Pekka Saraste und Michael Schoenwandt gemacht haben. Aber Luisis Interpretationen sind spannungsgeladen und effektvoll. Er ist, knapp formuliert, mehr am Klanglichen interessiert als an den Hintergründen. Aber das Phantastische an den Klangkonstruktionen reizt ihn sehr, und es gelingt ihm, die Kraft der Musik wirkungsvoll werden zu lassen.
Die Aufnahme ist leider etwas mittig und in die Tiefe hin angelegt, und Luisis Stil wäre bestimmt in einem breiteren Klangbild noch besser zur Geltung gekommen.
There is no shortage of good recordings of Carl Nielsen’s Symphonies Nos. 4 and 5. This new recording is not among those that dig as deep in the two works as Jukka-Pekka Saraste and Michael Schoenwandt have done. But Luisi’s interpretations are tense and effective. He is, to put it succinctly, more interested in the pure sound than the background. But the fantastic in the symphonies appeals to him very much, and he succeeds in making the power of the music effective.
Unfortunately, the recording is a bit centered and deep, and Luisi’s style would certainly have been more effective in a broader sound image.
