Der 1982 in Mailand geborene Pianist Güray Basol studierte an der Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris. Heute unterrichtet er Klavier an mehreren Schulen in der Region Paris und setzt gleichzeitig seine Solistenkarriere fort. Auf diesem Album spielt er Werke von zwei türkischen Komponistinnen des 20. Jahrhunderts, Nazife Aral Güran (1921-1993) und Yüksel Koptagel (geb. 1931).
Die Miniaturen von Nazife Aral Güran tragen Titel wie Reflektionen auf dem See, Elegie, Romanze, Orchideen oder auch Kennedy Nocturne, komponiert in der Nacht nach der Ermordung von US-Präsident J. F. Kennedy. Die Stücke sind gefällig, romantisch und oft melancholisch.
Yüksel Koptagel wurde in Madrid und an der Schola Cantorum in Paris ausgebildet. Viele der Stücke auf diesem Album sind viel rhythmischer und effektvoller als die von Güran. Güray Basol spielt sie zupackend und ausdrucksvoll. Epitaph und Impressionen von Menorcas sind von der spanischen Volksmusik beeinflusst.
Ein sehr nettes und fantasievoll komponiertes Stück mit charakteristischen Themen ist auch Little Brian’s Diary, das die Komponistin für den Sohn einer Freundin schrieb.
Die Interpretationen sind alle geschmackvoll, lebendig und rhetorisch nuanciert. Die Tonaufnahme ist von guter Qualität.
Born in Milan in 1982, pianist Güray Basol studied at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris. Today he teaches piano at several schools in the Paris region while continuing his career as a soloist. On this album he plays works by two Turkish composers of the 20th century, Nazife Aral Güran (1921-1993) and Yüksel Koptagel (b. 1931).
Nazife Aral Güran’s miniatures have titles such as Reflections on the Lake, Elegy, Romance, Orchids or Kennedy Nocturne, composed the night after the assassination of U.S. President J.F. Kennedy. The pieces are pleasant, romantic and often melancholy.
Yüksel Koptagel studied in Madrid and at the Schola Cantorum in Paris. Many of the pieces on this album are much more rhythmic and effective than those of Güran. Güray Basol plays them grippingly and expressively. Epitaph and Impressions of Menorcas are influenced by Spanish folk music.
Little Brian’s Diary, written for the son of a friend, is a very beautiful and imaginative piece with characteristic themes.
The performances are all tasteful, lively and rhetorically nuanced. The recording is of good quality.
