Francesco Viola, Piccolo-Solist am Nationaltheater Mannheim und des Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florenz hat vier moderne Werke des Rumänen Andreas Baksa, des Slowenen Uros Krek, des deutsch-kroatischen Komponisten Boris Papandopulo und des Ungaren Frigyes Hidas eingespielt.
Es sind meist unbeschwerte, wenn nicht sogar ausgelassen fröhliche Werke, die aber auch melancholischere Töne anschlagen können, und mal stärker (wie bei Papandopulo) oder mal weniger in der Volksmusik verankert sind.
Und obwohl ich keines der übrigen Stücke abwerten möchte, ist doch das das Concertino von Papandopulo mein Lieblingsstück auf diesem Album.
Francesco Viola, piccolo soloist at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, has recorded four modern works by the Romanian Andreas Baksa, the Slovenian Uros Krek, the German-Croatian composer Boris Papandopulo and the Hungarian Frigyes Hidas.
These are mostly light-hearted, if not exuberantly cheerful works, but they can also strike a more melancholy note and are sometimes more (as with Papandopulo) or less anchored in folk music.
And although I don’t want to devalue any of the other pieces, the Concertino by Papandopulo is my favorite piece on this album.
