Alexis Alrich (geb. 1955), hat in seinem Marimba Concerto viele Anklänge an den Minimalismus sowie an westliche wie fernöstliche Tänze verarbeitet und so ein sehr eklektisches Werk geschaffen, das phantasievoll genug ist, um in der inspirierten Interpretation von Evelyn Glennie und dem Kammerorchester aus Hong Kong attraktiv zu werden.

La Folia Von Karl Jenkins geht auf die oft für Variationen und andere Kompositionen benutzte Violinsonate gleichen Namens von Arcangelo Corelli zurück. Ned Rorems Konzert wurde im Jahr 2003 fertiggestellt. Das Schlagwerk des Solisten besteht aus Vibraphon, Marimba, Glockenspiel und Xylophon. Das Konzert ist wohl das unrhythmischste überhaupt, es ist melodisch, harmonisch, auffallend ruhig und sehr stimmungsvoll.

Evelyn Glennie und das Hong Kong City Chamber Orchestra liefern auch von diesem Werk eine beeindruckende, unmittelbar ansprechende Interpretation.

Alexis Alrich (b. 1955), incorporated many echoes of minimalism as well as from Western and Far Eastern dances in his Marimba Concerto, creating a highly eclectic work, imaginative enough to be attractive in the inspired interpretation of Evelyn Glennie and the Hong Kong Chamber Orchestra.
La Folia by Karl Jenkins traces its origins to the violin sonata of the same name by Arcangelo Corelli, often used for variations and other compositions. Ned Rorem’s Concerto was completed in 2003. The soloist’s percussion consists of vibraphone, marimba, glockenspiel and xylophone. The concerto is probably the most unrhythmic ever, it is melodic, harmonic, strikingly calm and very atmospheric.
Evelyn Glennie and the Hong Kong City Chamber Orchestra deliver an impressive, immediately appealing interpretation of this work as well.
