At a ceremony in Krakow, Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki, 83, was acclaimed for his contribution to the development of Polish culture and the worldwide promotion of Poland when he received yesterday the Erazm and Anna Jerzmanowski Prize of the Polish Academy of Learning. The Prize was funded by the Krakow entrepreneur Erazm Jerzmanowski in 1912 and was awarded from 1915 to 1938, and revived in 2009.
