Alle Mussorgsky-Opern
Modest Mussorgsky war ein äußerst produktiver Opernkomponist. Nach der unvollendeten Oper Ödipus in Athen komponierte er noch fünf weitere Opern, die nebst einigen Fragmenten in einer neuen Box von Profil enthalten sind. Von der bekanntesten Mussorgsky-Oper, Boris Godunow ist die Originalfassung nicht enthalten, dafür aber die Bearbeitungen von Rimsky-Korsakov und Shostakovich. Auch Khovanshchina wurde in den Bearbeitungen dieser beiden Komponisten aufgenommen, ferner Die Hochzeit (Zhenitba), Der Jahrmarkt von Sorotschintzy (Sorochinskaya Yarmaka) und Salambo. Alle Aufnahmen entstanden am Moskauer Bolshoi, aufgenommen 1946–1963. Als Bonus sind historische Aufnahmen von 1911–1940 enthalten. – Modest Mussorgsky was an extremely prolific opera composer. After the unfinished opera Oedipus in Athens, he composed five more operas, which are included along with some fragments in a new box set from Profil. Of the most famous Mussorgsky opera, Boris Godunov, the original version is not included, but the arrangements by Rimsky-Korsakov and Shostakovich are. Khovanshchina was also recorded in the arrangements of these two composers, as well as The Wedding (Zhenitba), The Fair of Sorochintzy (Sorochinskaya Yarmaka) and Salambo. Die in Kanada geborene Gitarristin Dale Kavanagh (geb. 1958) spielt eigene Gitarrenwerke mit Titeln wie Going nowhere, Briny Ocean, Toronto 98 sowie weiteren Stücken. Es sind in einigen Fällen sehr tonmalerische Werke von geballter Ausdruckskraft. Aber auch die Etüden und Präludien sind von großer rhetorischer Eindringlichkeit. – Canadian-born guitarist Dale Kavanagh (b. 1958) performs her own guitar works with titles such as Going nowhere, Briny Ocean, Toronto 98 as well as other pieces. In some cases these are very tone-painting works of concentrated expressiveness. But also the Etudes and Preludes are of great rhetorical urgency. (Naxos 8.551449) – ♪♪♪♪
