‘Schubert’s Women’ nennt sich eine CD, auf der die österreichische Mezzosopranistin Klaudia Tandl, die Schauspielerin Gabriele Jacoby und der irische Pianist Niall Kinsella Schubert-Lieder und Rezitationen zeitgenössischer Dichter wie Goethe, Rellstab, Schiller und Castelli mit starkem Bezug zu Frauen und dem Sujet ‘Liebe’ präsentieren. Es ist dies ein originelles Programm, das auf solidem künstlerischem Niveau anspruchsvoll dargeboten wird. – Schubert’s Women’ is a CD on which the Austrian mezzo-soprano Klaudia Tandl, the actress Gabriele Jacoby and the Irish pianist Niall Kinsella present Schubert songs and recitations by contemporary poets such as Goethe, Rellstab, Schiller and Castelli with a strong reference to women and the subject of ‘love’. Mozart-Konzerte für Klavier und Streichquartett
Mozarts Klavierkonzerte Nr. 11 und 13 haben der Pianist Piero Barbareschi und das Hegel Trio sowie Giulia Cerra auf der 2. Geige aufgenommen. Es sind angenehm flüssige, in den Ecksätzen rhythmisch drängende, in den langsamen Sätzen lyrische Interpretationen, in denen das warm leuchtende Klavier einem etwas zu scharfen Streicherklang gegenübersteht. – Mozart’s Piano Concertos Nos. 11 and 13 have been recorded by pianist Piero Barbareschi, the Hegel Trio and Giulia Cerra on 2nd violin. The interpretations are pleasantly fluid, rhythmically urgent in the outer movements and lyrical in the slower ones. The warm piano contrasts with a string sound that is a bit too sharp. Wenig inspirierende Liszt-Aufnahmen
Goran Filipec ist der Solist in einem Liszt-Programm (Ungarische Fantasie, Rhapsodie Espagnole, De Profundis, Totentanz). Der Pianist spielt zwar recht gut und virtuos, aber die Begleitung durch die Kodaly Philharmonie unter Imre Kollar ist wenig attraktiv, lahm, streckenweise recht schlampig und generell uninspiriert. – Goran Filipec is the soloist in a Liszt program (Hungarian Fantasy, Rhapsodie Espagnole, De Profundis, Totentanz). The pianist plays quite well and virtuosically, but the accompaniment by the Kodaly Philharmonic under Imre Kollar is unattractive, lame, quite sloppy in places, and generally uninspired. Attaktive zeitgenössische Kammermusik
Kammermusik des 1962 geborenen Briten Graham Waterhouse spielen Katharina Sellheim, David Fruehwirth, Namiko Fuse, Konstantin Sellheim sowie der Komponist (am Cello) bei Farao: Die Rhapsodie macabre ist ein teils schauriges, teils recht beschauliches Werk für Klavierquintett, während Bells of Beyond für Klaviertrio, wie der Titel sagt, ins musikalische Jenseits tendiert. Skylla und Charybdis für Klavierquartett ist mit seinen Sätzen Adagio lugubre, Allegro demonico, Adagio doloroso und Vivace energico ebenfalls ein sehr spannendes Stück, dessen schillernde Musik von nachhaltiger Wirkung ist. Die Aufführungen sind engagiert und von hoher musikalischer Qualität. Wer seinen Horizont zeitgenössischer Kammermusik ausweiten will, wird in Waterhouses kontrastreicher und rhetorischer Musik Stoff finden, ohne sich überfordern zu lassen. – This CD comprises chamber music by the British composer Graham Waterhouse, born in 1962. The program is performed by Katharina Sellheim, David Fruehwirth, Namiko Fuse, Konstantin Sellheim as well as the composer (on the cello). Rhapsodie macabre is a partly eerie partly quite contemplative composition for piano quintet, while Bells of Beyond for piano trio, as the title suggests, tends towards the musical beyond. Scylla and Charybdis for piano quartet, with its movements Adagio lugubre, Allegro demonico, Adagio doloroso and Vivace energico, is also a very exciting piece, whose dazzling music is of lasting effect. The performances are committed and of high musical quality. Albinoni zum 350. Geburtstag
Erato widmet Tomaso Albinoni (1671-1751) zum 350. Geburtstag eine Collector’s Edition mit Sinfonien und Konzerten in der Interpretation der Solisti Veneti unter Claudio Scimone. Die Aufnahmen wirken natürlich etwas gestrig, weil nicht auf alten Instrumenten gespielt und auch nicht alles beachtet wird, was heute als Regel für diese Musik gilt. Scimone und sein Tonmeister suchten eine klangliche Opulenz, die man heute so nicht mehr ohne weiteres akzeptiert. Dennoch gefallen die Einspielungen der Instrumentalmusik durch ihre Frische und Spielfreude. Zu den oft höchst virtuos musizierenden Solisten gehören Piero Toso, Pierre Pierlot und Giuliano Carmignola, Enthalten ist eine Liveaufnahme des Vokalwerks Il Nascimento dell’ Aurora. Weitere Vokalstücke sind das Intermezzo Pimpinone und die Serenata Il concilio de’ pianeti. – For the Tomaso Albinoni’s 350th birthday Erato releases a Collector’s Edition with symphonies and concertos in the interpretation of the Solisti Veneti under Claudio Scimone. The recordings, of course, seem a bit out-of-date because they are not played on historic instruments, nor do they observe everything that is considered the rule for this music today. Scimone and his sound engineer sought a tonal opulence that is no longer readily accepted. Nevertheless, the recordings of the instrumental music are pleasing because of their freshness and joy of playing. The soloists, often highly virtuosic, include Piero Toso, Pierre Pierlot and Giuliano Carmignola. Included are also a live recording of the vocal work Il Nascimento dell’ Aurora and of other vocal pieces like Intermezzo Pimpinone and the serenata Il concilio de’ pianeti. Bezuidenhouts Mozart nun in einer Box
Harmonia Mundi hat die vormals auf Einzel-CDs veröffentlichten Mozart-Sonaten mit dem südafrikanischen Fortepianisten Kristian Bezuidenhout nun in einer 9 CDs begreifenden Box zusammengefasst. Bezuidenhout spielt auf der Kopie eines Walter-Flügels vom Ende des 18. Jahrhunderts, hergestellt von Paul McNulty. Und Kopie bedeutet, dass das Instrument funktioniert und optimal klingt. Das nutzt der Pianist für sein energisches und hoch expressives Spiel auf diesem exzellenten Instrument, dessen Hämmer mit Hirschleder bespannt sind und nicht mit Filz. Der daraus resultierende recht scharfenund klare Klang unterstützt Bezuidenhout in seinem dramatischen Interpretieren, dem der Zuhörer wie gebannt zuhört. – Harmonia Mundi has now released a box with the complete Mozart Sonatas with South African fortepianist Kristian Bezuidenhout. Bezuidenhout plays on a copy of a late 18th century Walter instrument, made by Paul McNulty. And copy means that the piano works and produces an optimal sound. The pianist takes advantage of this for his energetic and highly expressive playing on this excellent instrument, whose hammers are covered with buckskin and not with felt. Bezuidenhout uses the resulting quite sharp and clear sound for his dramatic interpretation, to which the listener listens as if spellbound. (HMX 2904007) – ♪♪♪♪♪
