Feine Françaix-Interpretationen
Die Oboistin Karolina Stalmachowska, das LutosAir Quintet und verschiedene andere polnische Musiker spielen das Programm ‘Musique pour le Plaisir’ von Jean Françaix mit dessen Oboen-Divertimento, dem Quartett für Englischhorn, Violine, Viola und Cello, dem Bläsersextett und einem Trio für Oboe, Fagott und Klavier. Es sind fein einstudierte Interpretationen, die wir zu hören bekommen, vital in den schnellen, lyrisch in den langsamen Sätzen, aber aufs Ganze gesehen hätte die Musik etwas spritziger und kecker sein können. Oboist Karolina Stalmachowska, the LutosAir Quintet and various other Polish musicians perform the program ‘Musique pour le Plaisir’ by Jean Françaix with his Oboe Divertimento, the Quartet for Cor anglais, violin, viola and cello, the Wind Sextet and a Trio for oboe, bassoon and piano. These are finely rehearsed interpretations that we get to hear, vital in the fast movements, lyrical in the slow ones, but taken as a whole, the music could have been a bit more sparkling and perky. Junges Ensemble spielt Glass
Die Weltersteinspielung von Philip Glass’ 14. Symphonie ist auf einer CD zusammen mit dem Tiroler Konzert, einem Klavierkonzert, und Echorus für 2 Violinen und Streicher zu hören. Das Konzert präsentiert akustisch prominent den Solisten Martin James Bartlett, so dass die Streicher nicht wirklich zur Geltung kommen. Aber dieses Konzert ist ja abgesehen vom quirligen Finale auch nicht viel mehr als ein Wiederkäuen anderer Ideen des Komponisten. Auch die 14. Symphonie, Liechtenstein Suite, vom Ensemble LGT Young Soloists in Auftrag gegeben, beginnt mit einem wenig einfallsreichen ersten Satz. Die beiden anderen Sätze sind etwas origineller. Insgesamt bleibt die Aufführung aber genau so blass wie die von Echorus, das Daniel Hope, Chie Peters und Deutsche Kammerorchester Berlin ebenso wie Jennifer Koh, Jaime Laredo und das Curtis 20/21 Ensemble bedeutungsvoller eingespielt haben. – This CD presents the world premiere recording of Philip Glass’s 14th Symphony along with the Tyrol Concerto, a piano concerto, and Echorus for 2 violins and strings. The concerto prominently features soloist Martin James Bartlett, so the strings don’t really come into their own. But then, this concerto, apart from the lively finale, is little more than a regurgitation of other ideas by the composer. The 14th Symphony, Liechtenstein Suite, commissioned by the LGT Young Soloists, also begins with a rather uninspiring first movement. The other two movements are more appealing. Overall, however, the performance remains as pale as that of Echorus, which Daniel Hope, Chie Peters and Deutsches Kammerorchester Berlin have recorded more meaningfully, just as have Jennifer Koh, Jaime Laredo and the Curtis 20/21 Ensemble. Rossini im Jahre 1819
Opera Rara veröffentlicht eine 8-CD-Box, die drei neu bearbeitete Rossini-Aufnahmen enthält, die bis jetzt nicht auf CD erhältlich waren, Ermione, La donna del Lago und Bianca e Falliero. Die Box heißt Rossini 1819, weil die drei Opern innerhalb von zehn Monaten im Jahr 1819 in Neapel uraufgeführt wurden. Ermione und Bianca e Falliero werden vom London Philharmonic unter der Leitung von David Parry aufgeführt. La Donna del Lago wurde beim Edinburgh Festival 2006 unter der Leitung von Maurizio Benini mit dem Scottish Chamber Orchestra aufgenommen. Alle drei Einspielungen sind hochkarätig, außergewöhnlich stark besetzt und in der ganzen Darbietung eindringlich und daher höchst empfehlenswert. – Opera Rara is releasing an 8-CD box set containing three newly edited Rossini recordings not previously available on CD, Ermione, La donna del Lago and Bianca e Falliero. The box is called Rossini 1819 because the three operas were premiered in Naples within ten months of each other in 1819. Ermione and Bianca e Falliero are performed by the London Philharmonic conducted by David Parry. La Donna del Lago was recorded at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival conducted by Maurizio Benini with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra. Leichte Musik aus Paris
Der Franzose Patrice Muzard ist bekannt als Filmkomponist. Er schreibt aber auch kleine symphonische Stücke, die der gehobenen Unterhaltung zuzurechnen und am besten wohl mit British Light music zu vergleichen sind. Er hat sicher viele Ideen und kann sie gut orchestral umsetzen. Der Dirigent Carlos Dourthé und das Ensemble Symphonique de Paris – das sind Musiker des Orchestre National de France sowie des Orchesters der Universität Paris – haben 10 Stücke von Muzard aufgenommen, die für angenehme 48 Minuten sorgen. – Frenchman Patrice Muzard is known as a film composer. But he also writes small symphonic pieces, which can be categorized as upscale entertainment and are probably best compared to British Light music. He certainly has a lot of ideas and his orchestrations are excellent. Conductor Carlos Dourthé and the Ensemble Symphonique de Paris – musicians from the Orchestre National de France and the University of Paris Orchestra – have recorded 10 lovely pieces by Muzard that make for a pleasant 48 minutes.
