Berlin Classics legt eine Platte vor, die sich von den üblichen Pfaden abhebt. Céline Moinet, Oboe und Englisch Horn, Florian Uhlig, Klavier, und Sophie Dervaux, Fagott, spielen Poulenc, Ravel, Debussy und Saint-Saëns. Aber das abwechslungsreiche Programm ist nicht das Einzige, was die Produktion auszeichnet. Das Album besticht auch durch die kommunikative Kraft der Musiker, die einen ungewöhnlichen Enthusiasmus an den Tag legen. Das spürt man und das gefällt. Céline Moinet ist nicht nur in Bezug auf ihre Virtuosität überwältigend, sondern auch was die Atmung anbelangt. Sie spielt sehr rhetorisch und dramatisch, was der Poulenc-Sonate eine packende Form gibt. Florian Uhlig weit mehr als nur ein Begleiter. Er nimmt seine Rolle als Interpret mit bemerkenswertem Engagement wahr. Dasselbe gilt für die Fagottistin Sophie Dervaux, so dass die beiden Trios von Poulenc und Debussy (dieses hier in einem eigenen Arrangement) weit über den oft nur kredenzten Charme der Musik hinausgehen. – Berlin Classics presents a disc that abandon the well-trodden path. But the varied program is not the only thing that distinguishes the production. The album also impresses with the communicative power of the musicians, who display an unusual enthusiasm. You can feel that and it pleases. Céline Moinet is overwhelming not only in terms of virtuosity, but also in terms of breathing. She plays very rhetorically and dramatically, giving the Poulenc sonata a gripping shape. Florian Uhlig much more than an accompanist. He fulfills his role as an interpreter with remarkable commitment. The same is true of bassoonist Sophie Dervaux, so that the two trios by Poulenc and Debussy (the latter here in a separate arrangement) go far beyond the charm of the music that can often be heard. Virtuose Trompete
Die Trompeterin Selina Ott hat mit der Pianistin Maria Radutu, dem Dirigenten Dirk Kaftan und dem ORF Radio-Sinfonieorchester Wien Konzerte von Shostakovich, Jolivet und Weinberg aufgenommen. Das Erste Konzert von Shostakovich für Klavier, Trompete und Streichorchester ist wunderbar ironisch, aber zugleich auch spektakulär und enorm virtuos. Nicht weniger intensiv und brillant sind auch Weinbergs Trompetenkonzert und das Concertino von André Jolivet. Die Aufnahme ist, was das von Dirk Kaftan zupackend dirigierte Orchester anbelangt, relativ trocken und stellt die Soloinstrumente sehr in den Vordergrund. – Trumpeter Selina Ott has recorded concertos by Shostakovich, Jolivet and Weinberg with pianist Maria Radutu, conductor Dirk Kaftan and the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna. The First Concerto by Shostakovich for piano, trumpet and string orchestra is wonderfully ironic, but at the same time spectacular and enormously virtuosic. Weinberg’s Trumpet Concerto and André Jolivet’s Concertino are no less intense and brilliant. The orchestra is conducted grippingly by Dirk Kaftan, but the sound of it is relatively dry and places the solo instruments very much in the foreground. (Orfeo C220011) – ♪♪♪
Zwei Ballette von Lord Berners
Naxos nimmt weitere Aufnahmen mit Musik von Lord Berners in seinen Katalog. Sie wurden zuvor auf Marco Polo veröffentlicht. Die neueste CD enthält die Ballette Les Sirènes und ‘Cupid and Psyche’. Das sehr tonmalerische Ballett Les Sirènes wird von der RTE Sinfonietta unter David Lloyd-Jones elegant und schwungvoll gespielt. ‘Cupid and Psyche’ kannte als Ballett keinen großen Erfolg, und selbst die siebenteilige Suite ist nicht so attraktiv wie Les Sirènes, ohne deswegen unangenehm zu sein. – Naxos adds more recordings with music by Lord Berners to its catalog. They were previously released on Marco Polo. The latest CD includes the ballets Les Sirènes as well as Cupid and Psyche. The tone-painting ballet Les Sirènes is elegantly performed by the RTE Sinfonietta under David Lloyd-Jones.
